<p>A count of working age residents used with claimant count data to calculate proportions. Working age is defined as 16-64 for males and 16-59 for females. The working age population figures are derived from population estimates which are compatible with the 2001 Census.</p> <p>Residence-based denominators are available from 2001 onwards for local authorities, learning and skills councils, regions (government office and standard statistical) and countries.</p> <p>Although claimant count proportions are available for wards, travel-to-work areas and parliamentary constituencies, the propulation denominators for these areas cannot be downloaded separately.</p>
